Great piece. I often wonder why our cities are so ugly compared to continental Europe. Something I have noticed, though: British houses are mostly much nicer inside than houses in continental Europe. We are good at interior design but terrible at both architecture and knowing how to paint/render a house to make it more cheery. Or maybe we just don't care?
