I think I’ve caused some confusion — I wanted to talk about a possible future where most humans become effectively economically useless, with UBI being perhaps their only income, and what that would mean for hierarchies of power. I’m not against giving smallish payments to all members of today’s economy if that can be shown to be the most effective form of redistribution without negative impacts.

To respond to your other post, I’m aware of Friedman’s “helicopter money” idea, but again, that’s not what I’m talking about.
